Second prize from EBRD to Şekerbank...

Şekerbank, which is the first bank provided with loan within the scope of the Trade Facilitation Programme (TFP) the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has started to implement in Turkey, won the prize of “The Bank that used the Programme most frequently in Turkey in the Year 2015”. In the year 2015, the Bank provided 50 million dollars of funds to finance foreign trade within the scope of the programme.

Şekerbank, which is the first bank provided with loan within the scope of the Trade Facilitation Programme (TFP) the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has started to implement in Turkey after 23 countries, was awarded the prize by the EBRD for the second time. 

The Bank has been rewarded for being the bank that used the TFP, which is intended for incentivizing the foreign trade to and from the countries in which EBRD has made investment, most frequently in Turkey in the year 2015. In the year 2015, the Bank provided 50 million dollars of funds to finance foreign trade within the scope of the programme.

Şekerbank was also rewarded last year for being the first Turkish bank using the EBRD guarantee within the scope of the TFP. 

Şekerbank’s prize of “The Bank that used the Programme most frequently in Turkey in the Year 2015” was given to Gülfer Tuncay, Head of Financial Institutions Group, Şekerbank within the scope of the EBRD Annual Meeting and Business Forum held in London. 

Within the scope of TFP it started in 1999, the EBRD provides the international confirmation banks with security; and provides selected banks and factoring companies with short-term loan facilities to be distributed to local exporters, importers and distributors. Within the scope of the said programme, EBRD has provided over €12.8 billion support for more than 18 thousand 400 transactions until today. The TFP covers over 100 participant banks in 23 countries where the EBRD operates and over 800 confirmation banks across the world.
