Support to Earth Hour by Şekerbank

Supporting the “Earth Hour” campaign organized annually in more than 170 countries for 7 years, Şekerbank is going to turn off the lights this year as well to point out the climate change problem.

Şekerbank is going to support the “Earth Hour” campaign carried out by WWF-Turkey (World Wildlife Fund) this year as well. 

In order to point out the climate change problem, the Bank is going to turn off the lights in several off-Istanbul service buildings as well as its General Management and Kartal Operation Center within the scope of the event to be held from 20.30 to 21.30 on March 19 Saturday this year. Supporting the “Earth Hour” for 7 years, the Bank is going to encourage all its employees to participate in the event this year as well.

Şekerbank, which has brought energy efficiency to almost 79 thousand people through EKOkredi product that is something first in Turkey in financing of the energy efficiency investments, continues its activities in this area by reflecting its environmental awareness to its loaning processes and participating in national and international climate change combat platforms.

Started in Australia in 2007, this campaign, which is one of the biggest environmentalist events of the World intended for pointing out the climate change problem, includes turning off the lights in over 170 countries for one hour in every March. Within the scope of the event, the 10th edition of which is going to be held this year, thousands of buildings, monumental ones representing cities and countries in particular, will turn off the lights. The campaign has been supported by Turkey as well since 2008.
